Baguio Day Tour (Travel Diary + Itinerary)
Baguio is the summer capital of the Philippines. Located in Northern Luzon, its cool temperature is a great escape from Manila's sweltering heat.
Last March 10, 2018, I went on a day tour / road trip to Baguio City with my brother, my mom, and her friends! We rented a Van for a day and we were able to explore 12 spots in Baguio City in less than 24 hours!
Sharing with you my travel diary and our Baguio day tour itinerary:
12:00 AM - DEPARTURE TO BAGUIO
Our meeting place was at Munoz, Quezon City. We left at around 12am and arrived in Baguio at around 5:30 am. Travel time from Munoz, QC to Baguio is around 4-5 hours.
MORNING TOUR
6:00 AM - MASS AT OUR LADY OF ATONEMENT CATHEDRAL (BAGUIO CATHEDRAL)
Located at the Cathedral Loop adjacent to Session Road in Baguio, Philippines, our first stop was at Baguio Cathedral. It is the see of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Baguio.
We attended the 6:00 am mass.
7:00 AM - BREAKFAST IN SESSION ROAD
After the mass, we walked towards Session Road and looked for a place to eat since we were parked at the Cathedral. We ended up eating breakfast at KFC (yup, very touristy. lol).
After eating breakfast, we went back to the Cathedral to take some photos.
There was this spot outside of Baguio Cathedral filled with beautiful flowers and plants. I thought it would be great for my Instagram feed especially because my hair blends in. :)
Of course we tried out the famous Strawberry Taho of Baguio. A Baguio trip wouldn't be complete without trying it out! It tastes delish but it was really sweet for me. Also, I just had a hot choco and I don't want my tummy to go berserk since I'll have a long day so I ended up just tasting it!
THE MANSION
After breakfast and a few photo shoots, we drove to The Mansion.
The Mansion House is the official summer palace of the President of the Philippines. Visitors are not allowed to tour and roam around the palace due to security reasons.
WRIGHT PARK
Right across The Mansion is the Wright Park. Beautiful sunflowers greet you as you walk through the path. There are pine trees that surrounds the elongated man-made body of water. I bought a bunch of pasalubongs here because native handicrafts are being sold.
There's also a small booth where you could rent an Igorot Clothing for Php 20.00 per head and you could take photos for unlimited time! I recommend that you do this here because it's not that crowded so you could take great photos and it's way cheaper than in Mines View or in Burnham Park.
GOOD SHEPHERD CONVENT
Located at Gibraltar Rd, Baguio, 2600 Benguet, we quickly dropped by good shepherd convent to buy pasalabuongs because you can purchase all sorts of delicious goodies here that are produced by nuns and volunteers.
MINES VIEW PARK, BAGUIO
This is a very popular tourist attraction that you should just have to check out when you're in Baguio! There's so much to do here - enjoy the breathtaking and overlooking view, toss a coin in the wishing well, shop, buy a succulent (i added two in my growing collection), buy ornamental plants, ride a horse, rent an Igorot clothing, and of course, take tons of photos!
LUNCH TIME
GOOD TASTE
Around quarter to 11am, we went to Good Taste to eat lunch. Good Taste is a popular resto in Baguio among the locals. Its serving is huge and is very affordable. Their food tastes delicious too! For our group of 12, we only paid around Php 1,800.00 and we were so full!
AFTERNOON TOUR
BURNHAM PARK
After lunch, we went to Burnham Park, a historic urban park located in downtown Baguio, Philippines. We rode the boat for 30 minutes, costs around Php 200.00, depending on the type of boat you'll choose. Then my brother and I rode the bike, costs around Php 50-100.00, depending on the type of bike you'll choose.
LOURDES GROTTO
Located on a hillside, this Catholic shrine & pilgrimage site features a statue of the Virgin Mary. We spent a few minutes here at the Lourdes Grotto to pray.
STRAWBERRY FARM AT LA TRINIDAD, BENGUET
From Lourdes Grotto, we drove to Strawberry Farm at La Trinidad, Benguet. Upon entrance, stalls upon stalls of fresh strawberries, jams, native handicrafts, and all sorts of pasalubongs can be found! You can also buy strawberry ice cream and other flavors there which you can eat right away. You can also try the strawberry and/or ube taho.
I really enjoyed shopping there. :)
We tried vegetable picking and strawberry picking. The strawberries and the vegetables there are definitely way cheaper than in the markets here in Manila.
THE MANOR AT CAMP JOHN HAY
From the Strawberry Farm, we drove to The Manor at Camp John Hay. Camp John Hay was a military installation in Baguio, Philippines. There's so much to do inside it such as trying out the Tree Top Adventure rides, Trekking, and visiting the butterfly sanctuary, the bell house, and the cemetery of negativism!
But since we're only on a day tour, we opted to just enjoy the scenery at The Manor. There's so many pine trees at Camp John Hay which you can adore and take loads of photos!
LION'S HEAD AT KENNON ROAD
Our very last stop before heading back to Manila was the Lion's Head at Kennon Road. Since we arrived in Baguio at around 5:30am, it was too dark to go down the car and take photos so we headed straight to the Cathedral instead. Luckily, we finished touring before 6pm so we were able to get to the Lion's Head before the sun went down.

Baguio is a beautiful city that judging by your post has so much to offer. The Lady Of Atonement Cathedral looks wonderful. It seems you had a great time there and tried different kinds of activities. That's lovely! Strawberry farm seems like a great place to visit too. So cool they let you pick lettuce there. Thanks for sharing this great travel log!
