Eight long years - that's how long I've stopped having formal training. That's how long I've been questioning my purpose despite moving forward with another career path. In all the things I do, there's this ballerina inside me who wants to get out from the darkness and continue pursuing her passion.

"It's really difficult to give-up that one thing which makes you truly happy especially when you know that you have what it takes to be the best in the world. :(" - I wrote that 4 years ago and it's still applicable up to this day.

Am I giving up on my ballet dreams?

Even though I have been dancing ballet since I was four, it’s taking me a long time to regain the skill I had before I stopped taking formal lessons. To stay motivated, I like to learn about other ballerina’s who worked really hard to become Primas and became legends. Reading about their careers reminds me that they put in many years of hard work and training before they got to the top of their game and made a name for themselves.

To keep me motivated in bringing back my flexibility, here are inspirational ballet photos in doing full splits! The thing is, I can no longer do a full split (half split na lang) and since I could do a split before, I'm sure that in a few weeks time (plus a lot of pain) I'll be able to do it with continues stretches.

”My first dream was to be a ballet dancer. I didn’t know about success at all. You can only hope to get a combination of happy work and a happy life” - Audrey Hepburn

Happy Monday everyone! I need a big inspiration right now because thesis results will be out later today. I am so nervous. So this explains why I'm posting my favorite, favorite actress of all time doing my most favorite thing in the world, ballet! Oh these photos make me love Audrey Hepburn more! And she's totally inspiring me to follow my dreams no matter how difficult it is. I knew she could sing but I never knew that she's a ballerina! And that's it. She's perfect! haha. :)

I'm wishing everyone a great day and an awesome week!
God bless us all. (^^,)

Every time I see a little kid learning ballet, my heart is extremely grateful & happy. I wonder how long this little girl or boy will continue to pursue her/his dream after realizing that ballet is more than just what most people see with their naked eyes... that it's hard work & it's really difficult to be in this field. But I imagine that little kid making it big out there & being the happiest person alive because she/he has fulfilled her life-long dream & she/he dances to express & not to impress... it's just a beautiful thought :">

This project by Bob Carey is very sweet and at the same time very hilarious. hehe.
He wears this pink tutu after his wife was diagnosed with cancer. The mission of The Tutu Project is to support the fund raising efforts of the Carey Foundation for women with breast cancer. They strive to bring laughter and understanding to a community that has endured far too much.

Ballet costumes can be pretty expensive and as a ballerina who also performs outside of my ballet school, I need a variety of costumes. And I think that a great alternative for ballet costumes are prom dresses! As I was browsing for prom dresses in the world wide web, I found these wonderful prom dresses online! And to be honest, I can see myself dancing on the stage wearing these dresses!~

SWAN LAKE. This white prom dress has a skirt almost similar to a ballerina's tutu and I love how the dress is sleeveless and not a tube because you can freely move and dance without worrying about wardrobe malfunction. :) You can just wear a skin tone or a leotard underneath or just wear a cycling shorts then put on your pointe shoes and you're good to go.

ROMEO AND JULIET. This is probably one of my most adored ballet of all time! This prom dress is one shouldered and has a chiffon Watteau Train Beading! It's flowy and I think that it's perfect to use for a Juliet ballet costume. The details are intricate as well so it makes this prom dress fantastic!

I can vividly remember that glorious moment when I first had my pointe class. And according to my ballet teacher, my feet don't wobble unlike the other first-timers on pointes. I was beyond happy because I felt as if that it was a sign that I am good. really good. and I have great potential.

I WAS AM A BUNHEAD. My world was pretty much centered around ballet. I go to ballet class twice a week, every after class, ever since I was 4 years old. I dance whenever I am given the opportunity --- family events, school activities, intermissions, opening prayers, and recitals and shows. I've also been recognized and awarded. I was even given a scholarship by Ms. Vella C. Damian herself. I was seriously on fire as a ballerina (e.g. My blog title: Raellarina - The Ballerina on Fire) and I guess that I was on the peak of really, really making it out there when everything just died and crushed. It wasn't really a choice. I didn't quit. I mean, if I was given a choice, I would really, really rather be a ballerina than what I am about to become in a few years.

I was seriously depressed in the first half of the year when I stopped taking ballet lessons and I was literally crying every night, and whenever I remember my ballet days. But perhaps, there is really more to life than just dancing ballet.

Four years has passed since I stopped taking ballet lessons and I must say, it was painful, depressing, and seriously difficult. And during this years, I have come to conclude these life lessons I learned from not dancing ballet:

It's really difficult to give-up that one thing which makes you truly happy especially when you know that you have what it takes to be the best in the world. :(

It has been 4 years now but the pain is still very fresh and vulnerable. The emotional stress and depression I feel from not being able to dance on my toes, and not being able to wear my leotards and tights while inside the mirrored room where I can only hear the magnificent and wonderful world of ballet through classical music and Ms. Damian's voice correcting my poorly executed steps, are still haunting me every single day ever since I stopped taking formal lessons. It's really hard because this feeling never really stopped.

The people around me never really knew how depressed I am but truth be told, every time I see little kids with their hair tied up in a bun and in leotards and tights while walking home with their mommies, my heart is being stabbed. The same feeling I get every time I see ballet movies, ballet documentaries, ballet stores, and other ballet images. But it seemed like the pain is still not enough for I like to torture myself. I watch a lot of ballet movies and documentaries, I read ballet blogs, I paint ballerinas, and what's even worst, I use ballet in my design projects whether as a theme or motif, or as an establishment I will design. Remember That's D' Pointe Dance shop? Well, it just hurts me a lot but believe it or not, I just can't let go of this one dream which seems very impossible to achieve now. :(

I'm a supporter of projects like this because as a ballerina, I have this advocacy of sharing the art of ballet!! That's actually one of the reasons why I do the "Ballerina on Fire" posts here in my blog. :)) Anyway, I adore Lisa Tomasetti for doing this because she's helping ballerinas be known in the world! Also, I'm planning photo shoots like this for my future ballet students! hihi.~

Will display my tutus and other ballet costumes, ever since I was 4, this way.

"TO A LAYMAN, A BALLERINA SEEMS INCOMPREHENSIBLY FUSSY ABOUT HER SHOES. BUT FOR A DANCER THE POINTE SHOE IS MORE THAN JUST A TOOL OF THE TRADE, MORE THAN A TRADITION, MORE THAN A COSTUME. IT IS AN EXTENSION OF HER BODY, INTIMATELY RELATED TO HER PROFESSION AND HER ART. IT IS THE ESSENTIAL “EQUIPMENT” THAT MAKES HER DANCING POSSIBLE."
