Ideas To Help You Embrace The Decluttering Season

It is that time of year again, the time where you start to think about the new year, the festivities of Christmas and the fact that your home could do with a real declutter. Don’t you agree? Christmas is the time, especially for families, where more things come into the home. December is also a time where we start to look to the new year, and would you believe it is one of the most common times to take action with your home and clear yourself of the clutter. So how do you go about it? What can you do? I wanted to share with you some of the ideas you could incorporate to help you with your home cleaning and to help you embrace the decluttering season.

Think about outside storage

One of the first things to consider would be outside storage, and giving your outside space a good clear out. This may sound like counter productive in the winter months, but actually, doing this can save you a huge job when the weather starts to get warmer once more. Consider using sheds or metal garage kits to create essential and safe places to store your things outside. This is especially good for tools, garden equipment, tables and chairs that don’t need to be used until the spring arrives.

What rooms need the most work

Now is the time to place some focus on the inside. What rooms need work and what rooms don’t? Many people have certain areas of their home that they find to be more clutters than others. So now would be a great time to place some of your focus on them. Kids toys, books, and general clutter like ornaments and frames can often be the main culprits. So focus on the areas that need your attention the most to enable you to create calmer and more organised spaces in your home.

Sources of inspiration to help you get creative

Sometimes we have things we need, but they just don’t need to be out, on display, or causing our homes to look and feel cluttered. So often we need to look for inspiration online to get creative with creating the ideal storage solutions for our homes. Websites like Pinterest and Instagram are great places to consider. Things like under the stairs storage racks, kitchen cupboard organisers so you know where everything is and can make better use of the space. Even storage box and creative kids toys storage ideas can be found online if you look hard enough.

Decluttering doesn’t need to be a big chore

Finally, decluttering doesn’t have to be a big mission. There is the life changing art of tidying up which is the Marie Kondo method that is worth a look. But you can also do five minutes each day to tackle your home on a gradual and more thought provoking manner. Ensuring that you do it properly, and give everything a home. This also creates opportunities to sell items that you no longer want to need. Helping you to increase you income at a very expensive time of the year.

Before I got to your blog I literally spent all day cleaning out my closet and reorganize almost everything lol. These are all great tips! I think we all carry the most in our bedrooms so that's a great place to start.
