The Best Places To Visit In Beijing

When you visit Beijing in China, some sights just cannot be missed. If you are considering visiting this city that is rich in history and culture, you can find a list of some of the best places to stay online. When you have your accommodation arranged, you can then start to plan your days in China so you can take in the top sights and attractions that are on offer in this wonderful city.

The Forbidden City

One of the most famous landmarks that attract both foreign and Chinese visitors is the Forbidden City. There are lots of things to see in this attraction, and a visit to the museum is worth your time. Take comfy shoes with you and plenty of water as there is a lot of walking to be done. If you book your tour at, or anywhere else, this along with the Great Wall is one of the attractions that is on all of the itineraries.

Jingshan Park

Jingshan Park was built in the year 1179 and was constructed during the Jin Dynasty. Today it still occupies the highest point of the city of Beijing, and you can enjoy the views looking down on the spreading city below which include the Forbidden City.

The Temple Of Heaven

The Temple of Heaven is considered as China’s largest building for religious worship and was constructed in 1420. The Ming and Qing Dynasties would pray for a good harvest by paying respect to the heavens. As well as the different buildings, there are also beautiful gardens that can be enjoyed. 

Tiananmen Square

Another popular attraction for visitors to Beijing is Tiananmen Square, made famous for the student demonstrations during the late 1980’s, as well as being the place during the 1940’s where Chairman Mao announced the formation of the People’s Republic of China. The square is a historical area and attracts a lot of local people, especially on special days, so expect a crowd.

The Back Lakes

A tour of this area will not only take in the three lakes of Xihai, Oianhai, and Houhai, but you will also get to explore some of the oldest of the old Hutong neighbourhoods. When lit up at night, the area can be outstanding so choose the right time of day to visit. 

Badaling – The Great Wall

One of the most popular places to visit the Great Wall is at Badaling. Along with many tourists, there are also many vendors selling souvenirs as well as food and drinks. If you go during the winter time, make sure that you dress up warm as it can get cold. You can go as part of a tour or explore the wall alone and go for a wander at your own pace.

The Ming Tombs

The Ming Dynasty is one of the most famous Dynasties, and the tombs of the royals are just a short distance outside of Beijing. Along the road on the way to the tomb, hundreds of stone animals guard the way to the sacred site.
