10 Reasons an Interior Designer Makes Sense

Everyone is entitled to a space that brings them comfort and joy; however, creating these spaces don’t come naturally to some, and that’s okay.  If you want to take advantage of the space you have, and don’t know where to start, an interior designer may be an option to consider.

Why?

Here are 10 reasons which may persuade you to pick up the phone and call one in your town.

1. A great value for the money

Many people will notice that interior designers are costly, and yes, some may be; however, don’t let this discourage you. As much as this may be true, they offer value for your money as they coordinate the whole process from planning to implementation, making your dreams come true. They show full commitment and eliminate any hiccups and avoid any expensive mistakes.  Think of it this way:  They have connections, they know which items will work in your home and will work with your budget.

2. Professionalism

Just like doctors are trained to attend to patients, interior designers are also trained to decorate places. They have the ability to see things the owner of a house may not be able to see. This professionalism ensures that errors are minimized when implementing the real design and save you a lot of headaches.  All interior decorators aren’t created equally, though.  Be sure to see what kind of education they have and who they have worked with in the past.  You don’t want to pick out a designer blindly.

3. They help you save time

Interior designers will save you a lot of time.  Since they know exactly what you need to have done, this could save you hours or even days at your local furniture stores.  Touching on point one, they know exactly where to go, exactly what to buy and exactly what you’re going to spend.  If time is money for you, this could be well worth it.

4. Wide industry connections

Since most designers have been in the industry for awhile, they have made connections with many local companies and contractors.  Because of this, they know exactly where to go and who to call.  This can be great, especially if you need items that are hard to find at your local retailers or a job only a skilled tradesman may be able to perform.

5. Increase the home value

This is an advantage mainly for people who decorate their homes so that they can sell in the near future. Since most designers know which add-ons will increase your home’s value, they will know exactly what you should and shouldn’t do.  Again, while this upfront cost may seem like a lot, you should be able to recoup most of this investment when you sell your home if the right things are purchased.

6. Latest trends

Most people rely on what they see from their friends or places they visit when choosing their interior designs; however, what most don’t realize is that these trends may be outdated.  While you may like this add-on, future buyers may be turned off.  In fact, some designs may lower your home’s value.  Why invest thousands when you won’t see a return? A good designer will show you the latest trends and what they believe will fit best in your home.

7. They create a vision

Sometimes, it can be hard to put your vision into an actual reality.  A good designer will be able to take your thoughts and create something that you can be proud of.  Most of us, unfortunately, weren’t born with the skill to turn our thoughts into home designs.

8. They help you budget

With any project, budgeting plays a fundamental role. Some interior designs are expensive and more than most think, but like I have said before, this upfront cost can actually save you money when it comes to the design and the construction material.  For example, designers can give alternatives to materials that may be expensive or not mandatory.  They will also know what many construction projects may cost, saving you money when hiring a professional.  Trust me, you may be making mistakes and spending too much money if you were to do it alone.

9. Saves you from the bad guy

This tip applies to those who are building a house for the first time.  If you’re bringing in a designer, they will already have wonderful connections with contractors who are legit and insured.  Researching these people on your own could lead to scams, unfinished jobs or people who aren’t insured.

10. Reduces your stress

Lastly, hiring a good designer will help lower your stress levels.  Wouldn’t it be great to tell the designer what you want and have him or her do the rest?  This is similar to hiring a landscaping service.  Simply tell them what you want, sit back and you don’t have to worry about much more.
