BALLET: Ang Sayaw Para Sa Buwan Ng Wika

I'm back in dancing ballet! ---well, not technically in the "formal training" as I've been dying to go back into ever since I entered college and took up Interior Design (this, perhaps, you may all know by now as I keep talking about it) but it was last March since I last danced in my University (UST) and it was last May since my real "last dance" in front of Michael Christian Martinez, the first ever Filipino Winter Olympic Figure Skater! So in short, it has been quite a while (many months ago) and it's been so long since I last danced. To add to the timeline, it has been 4 long years since I last danced ballet on the stage of my high school alma mater's auditorium during buwan ng wika. Amazingly, though stressful, we had this project in Filipino and I was asked to dance ballet for our program.

Originally, it was supposed to be a solo ballet performance and it was fine with me since I can just dance on the spot because thesis should be worked on almost everyday but I have a classmate/blockmate who wants to dance too so yeah. And this led to my dramatic reminiscence of my high school days in which I dance in almost every event of my school. With that I remembered my ballet buddy, Czarisse! See us dance here.

Janel and I tried to give justice to Lea Salonga's Nandito Ako. I originally wanted to dance David Archuleta's rendition of the song but we've decided to do Lea's instead. And in fact, after this dance, while I was on the jeepney and on my way home, I've realized that I should have danced Black Eyed Pea's Bebot instead. hahaha. Then I realized that I can suggest this "Bebot" dance to YFC-UST's ministry concert if there would be one this year. heh.~

We choreographed the dance for less than one day and practiced it twice. :)
It was my first time to dance and perform in front of my '2nd' College Blockmates and it was obviously, their first time to see me dance, live, too. And seeing their smiles and applause made me extremely grateful. Ser (Sir) Ron (our Filipino prof.), and our 3 invited professors were like praising me for a job well done. And
they were like taking photos of us me us during the dance.

An unforgettable scene:
My friends and I were walking on the corridor after class and my Filipino professor was like calling me and thanking me for dancing and was like saying I was great. He was like, "Rae! Rae! Salamat! Ang galing! Salamat sa pagsayaw." Not really sure if this was his exact words but more or less it was like that. hehe.

Then my friends were like, "Naks. Fan mo na si ser o!" (Sir is now your fan!)

I try to grab all the opportunity I'm offered to dance. Whenever, wherever. I think I'm good. I know I'm good. But I am not good enough. 4 years of no formal training makes me feel like a novice and I know that there's so much to improve. I watch so many youtube videos to fill in this hunger. But it just makes me sad. I try my best to make people see the real beauty ballet has and I try to make them feel why this is my passion. But I really feel that my capabilities and skills are not enough to be able do that.

Anyway, it was really nice to dance ballet in front of my college blockmates for the first time.

Thank you so much for reading dreamers! God bless! :)

A few notes:
** Original Photos taken by Ton Ton Ada, and grabbed from Royd Cruz.
**BUWAN NG WIKA (Language Month? in English) - is a month-long celebration for our Filipino language. :))
**The tights I used was very old na. It has a small hole and a run in the knee. The tights I really use can no longer be used for performances because it has stains all over and I don't know where it came from.
