COALESCE

Last December, the 3rd year Interior Design students of the University of Santo Tomas had an exhibit at the Beato Angelico. The theme of this exhibit was sustainable materials. I was amazed on how they pulled off an incredible exhibit in such a short time and a little less preparation. Of course it was not obvious in the exhibit but I was just able to talk to some of them. :)

This bar and wine store really caught my attention. It gives me the emotion of delight and it gives a new dimension of green design. This bar reminded me of one of my favorite paintings, “A Starry, Starry Night”. It was really beautiful stepping in there.

Sustainable materials such as bio- plastic and bio-composite were used in the two main attractions of the bar. The most attractive spot and the most essential is the bar counter. The designers used recycled broken pieces of glass mixed with clear resin (Bio composite). Slate were embossed and lighted to give texture and elegance to the bar counter. Overall, the bar was consist of polygonal shapes that were inspired from the stars made of Capiz shells that represent Christmas. Walls were painted fade into the night (Boysen Virtuoso) in semi-glass finish for the starry night effect. Geometrical patterns were added for that edgy look.

The focal wall was amazing because it has built-in mirror shelving for wine bottle display and surrounding it are stencil star shaped patterns made of bio-plastics and Capiz shells.

The atmospheric lighting structure, which was my favorite in the whole exhibit’s lighting, was custom made of white and blue LED lights that reflects the constellations in a starry night. They also used wine glasses which were very attractive and at the same time it’s so unique that it will never be forgotten by the visitors.

AMAZING HUH?! :")
